White sagenite needles in quartz from Brazil, probably altered amfibol inclusions, now empty channels, partly filled with secondary minerals and iron oxyhydroxides, due to the dissolution of the included mineral. They can be easily be confused with rutile needles, but careful microscopic observation reveals the difference.
This sample also have a unique large spherical inclusion, an aggregate of unidetified phyllosilicate crystals resembling a rosebud. petals.
Wonderful sample for gemologists and inclusions collectors!
